2. **General Awareness (25 Questions | 50 Marks):** Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around them and its application to society. It will also test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.
3. **Quantitative Aptitude (25 Questions | 50 Marks):** The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. 4. **English Comprehension (25 Questions | 50 Marks):** Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, their basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Topics include: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting misspelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.
**Tier-II: Skill Test / Typing Test (Qualifying Nature)**
This test is mandatory for all posts and is only for those who qualify Tier-I.
* **Data Entry Speed Test (DEST):** For Data Entry Operator posts, candidates will be given a passage of about 2000-2200 key depressions for 15 minutes. The speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage.
* **Typing Test:** For Junior Assistant posts, candidates will be given a passage of about 350 words in English or 300 words in Hindi, to be typed on a computer within 10 minutes. Speed required is 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi (35 w.p.m. corresponds to 10500 key depressions per hour and 30 w.p.m. corresponds to 9000 key depressions per hour).
